DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A FIRST SHOT TEACHER?

Although our positions are part-time, we’re very clear about the standards our teachers must bring to the job. If you think you can be a candidate, please read our requirements below.

First Shot Basketball School has been teaching children how to play basketball since 1997. The students range in age from 3-15 and many of them have little or no basketball experience.

If you love kids and basketball, this may just be your ideal job.

It is a hands-on position where our teachers actually teach, play games with the students and show them how to perform basic skills like passing, dribbling, shooting, etc.

Your love of children and outgoing personality is as important as your basketball skills. You must know how to engage kids at their level, make it fun and show them how capable they are. And we want you to have as much fun as the students.

This is not a coaching job. We don’t have teams and in our school, “winning” is not a priority. Classes are held in different Queens, NY locations on weeknights from 6:30 PM, and Saturdays & Sundays from 9:00 AM. Some afternoon positions are available as well.

Due to expansion, we are interviewing now for two qualified high-energy teachers who can work Saturdays and/or Sundays. Morning and afternoon shifts are available.

WE ONLY HIRE SPECIAL PEOPLE WITH THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Great love and patience for children
  2. Extremely reliable and responsible.
  3. A good sense of humor is a must.
  4. Good basketball skills and the ability to teach them
  5. High energy

You should live near Queens, NY. Having a vehicle at your disposal is also helpful as public transportation is difficult to some of our locations.

SPECIAL PERK FOR ALL TEACHERS:

As a First Shot teacher, you have free access to our open-court gym one night each week from 6:30-9:00 PM.
